The star’s hair was growing back after she was asked to shave off her hair for the film but she has had to sheer her locks away once more
It’s not often I have sympathy for a beautiful, Oscar-winning, multi-millionaire Hollywood actress.
But in the case of one Miss Charlize Theron, I’m prepared to make an exception.
She is fuming after being ordered to shave off her hair once again – just weeks after it finally grew back into an elegant, gamine style.
The 38-year-old actress has been called back for re-shoots of certain key scenes on forthcoming movie Mad Max 4: Fury Road – the role she originally lost her locks for.
Alongside Tom Hardy and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, she has been instructed to return to Namibia for more filming.
It also means the South African beauty is having to hit the gym with a vengeance to increase the circumference of her biceps.
Says a pal [of hers, not mine]: “Charlize really didn’t love having a crew cut and was thrilled when it eventually started growing out. It’s now at a great, workable length and she has been proud to show it off.
“However, early audience tests showed cinema-goers weren’t too impressed with a few scenes, so the director and writers have re-grouped and made some important changes. Naturally they want everything to be perfect as it’s a big-budget movie.

“Charlize is obviously contractually obliged to go along with any re-workings of the film, and will soon be shaving off her hair once again. She is devastated. It also means a few more gruelling workouts to regain the athletic physique she had over a year ago.”
Filming for the Mad Max sequel – the film franchise which launched Mel Gibson’s career – began last year.
Charlize, who plays the part of Imperator Furiosa in the post-apocalyptic series, originally kept her dramatic haircut a secret, covering
it up with a variety of hats and beanies.
She also follows in the footsteps of several other talented actresses who have suffered for their art by going bald. Sigourney Weaver (Alien 3), Natalie Portman (V for Vendetta), Cate Blanchett (Heaven) and Demi Moore (G.I. Jane) have all sported the hairless look for cinematic success.
However, this isn’t the first time Charlize has transformed herself for a role.
She won her Best Actress Academy Award for playing female serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 film Monster. She gained 35lbs and had to don a set of crooked prosthetic teeth in the process.
