He’s always been a trendsetter, that Nick Grimshaw, so I think “soap-bombing” could really catch on.

The Radio 1 breakfast show host, 29, is currently crashing all the UK’s favourite TV shows with random cameo appearances.

EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale are all set to feature our Grimmy popping up from nowhere as the nitty-gritty action takes place.

He’s even blagged a part in Aussie drama Home and Away in an upcoming storyline in which some characters visit the UK.

Now he’s trying for Hollyoaks to complete the set.

One person who will be absolutely chuffed with Grimmy’s unexpected appearances will be his ma, Eileen.

In fact the idea stemmed from the Sweat The Small Stuff presenter becoming desperate to make her proud.

I’m told: “Since taking over the breakfast slot, Grimmy had done really laddy things on the show, like training with Tottenham Hotspur, and his mum wasn’t too fussed about those celebrities.

“So he decided to infiltrate all her favourite shows.”

Despite soap bosses all working for competing TV networks, they have all been more than happy to accommodate him so far.

I’m told: “Most of the soaps have been really keen to invite Nick on. He’s gone along, filmed his bits and chatted about the ones he’s done on air. It’s great for the profile of the shows.”

But it has been tricky co-ordinating appearances to make a whole feature for his breakfast show.

He’s now hoping to do a whole week of soap-bombs in November, inviting the show’s stars on air to assess how well he did.

However, Home and Away is filmed so far in advance you won’t see Grimmy inexplicably drifting through the back of a Walkabout clutching a tinny til next May.

By which time, I predict, soap-bombing will officially become a nationwide fad.
